Matthias Lambert’s Revolutionary War pension application524 reports that “he was born in the state of Maryland near Fredericktown on the 15th day of March 1755. He has his father's Bible with his age recorded in it now at his residence.” (For “Fredericktown,” read “Frederick County.”) He resided in Augusta County, Virginia, where his family had moved, for several years after the Revolutionary War. In 1789, he received a land patent for “50 acres on Tygart Valley River joining land of Widow Springstone on the river below.”2130
