Notes for Isaac Hoyer
Isaac is the likely though unconfirmed father of Ann Hoyer. She was noted at the time of her marriage in 1846 to be a resident of Union Township. In 1840, he was reported in the Federal census of Robeson Township2247 two lines from Daniel Hoffman, who is plausibly related to Joseph Lloyd’s first wife, Sarah Hoffman. In 1840, Isaac was shown in the census2246 in Robeson on the line before Abraham Hofman, who again is plausibly related to Sarah Hoffman. (Robeson abuts Union, and other Hoffmans owned land that straddled the border.2248) Isaac Hoyer’s household includes a female aged 20-30, fitting other records of Ann’s age. Finally, the first son of Joseph Lloyd and Ann was named Isaac. There are a very few other Hoyers around, but no one else who appears to be a candidate father for Ann. — All in all, the circumstantial evidence for parenthood is reasonably convincing.
