In1786 and 1786, Governor Patrick Henry of Virginia granted to Anthony Bartlett for his military services 1,000 acres of land along Brashear’s Creek and 2,000 acres of land along Beargrass Creek. The second of these is or is near to where his cousin William Bartlett, and William’s son John, would live, in Jeffersontown (present Louisville).1500
